Lea’s foster describes her as a delightful dog with so much love to give. It was clear from the beginning she was desperate to please and wanted to trust people. Now that Lea’s adjusted and grown in confidence, she’s proving herself to be a polite, intelligent and loving girl. Like all new animals, Lea will require space and patience to become the fabulous companion we know she’ll be.
In foster, Lea lives with other dogs, a cat, and children. Lea adores the other pets and has developed an especially close bond with the cat. The children are aged 12 and 16 and very experienced fosters. Having allowed Lea the space to approach them in her own time, Lea adores them both.
Lea enjoys three short walks per day, and one longer walk at the weekend. She walks beautifully on a lead, often looking back and checking in on her humans. She has developed some chase behaviour towards squirrels, but this seems to be copied behaviour form the resident dogs.
Lea had heartworm before coming into our care and is finishing her medication to treat this. She has one tablet a month and has two tablets left. After this, she will need retesting, which the rescue will pay for. Her symptoms have resolved, and we expect Lea to make a full recovery.
