Calliope, known as Callie, has adapted wonderfully to her new foster home. She has become very affectionate and a complete purr machine! She enjoys cuddles, strokes and play, and runs to greet her foster carer when she enters the room. Being long-haired, Callie requires daily brushing which she is growing to enjoy more and more. She loves a back brush but is less keen on her bib, legs and tummy being touched. Treats help to distract her and we expect her to become more comfortable with this as she builds trust.

In foster, Callie lives with three dogs and has taken some time to warm up to them. They are always separated by a glass door, but Callie no longer hisses at the sight of them and will now approach the door calmly to watch them. With the right introductions, Cassie could learn to live with a dog who will ignore her and respect her space. Similarly with children, Callie can become frustrated if children are very noisy or pester her, but could happily live with children who respect her.

Callie has Feline Calicivirus, a condition which makes her more prone to developing cat flu. The condition is easy to manage - as long as her yearly vaccinations are given, this should prevent flare ups or limit their severity. She can sometimes have a weepy eye, as seen in some photos and has been clipped due to matted fur. Keeping Callie indoors would also prevent flare ups, however she shows a strong desire to go out. A quiet and low-populated area she can explore would be perfect for her.
